The Most Popular Summer Vacation Destinations 2015

Although the summer is coming to an end, travelers are trying to sneak in that last vacation before the end of August. It looks as though travel destinations in the Caribbean are still standard among US residents during the summer months, according to a contemporary report released by Adara, a company that leverages global travel data to help improve future business normal. As of July, US residents accounted for nearly 25 million searches and more than 500,000 flight reservations to the Caribbean from June through August 2015.

4. Cancun

6. Vancouver, British Columbia
7. Port-au-Prince, Haiti
8. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
9. Toronto

The report’s findings also show that Jamaica, the US Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Barbados and Bermuda are standard spots for American travelers.

For domestic destinations, most travelers won’t be surprised to see New York, Chicago, Orlando, Boston and Las Vegas at the top of the list for this summer, since they are usually standard year-round.

Adara’s report provides a glimpse into travel behaviors as well. For instance, couples’ travel peaks during August and September; family travel peaks in July; and solo travel peaks in January.

Other international fun facts include:

Most travelers who booked a trip to Paris during the summer are going solo, compared with only 36% of couples who visit the City of Light.

Within the top 10 international destinations, Cancun led with family travelers (28%), followed closely by San Juan (23%).
